Our Talented Chef

Janet Pressacco

Janet Pressacco was born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan and raised in Saskatoon. While growing up Janet was trained in music and knows how to play a few instruments including the saxophone and clarinet. This skill took her and her band to 3rd place at Nationals, in 1986 and 1988 at Nationals. She felt like she was groomed to be a music teacher but was more interested in traveling and food. Coming from a long line of farmers, she was introduced to the quality of good food at a very young age. After graduating from Hotel and Restaurant Administration in 1991, Janet traveled around western Canada exploring the Tourism Industry in Banff, Alberta where she worked at the Banff Springs Hotel. She ended up following her sister to Whitehorse, Yukon where she worked in a few different restaurant locations, and in 1994 she moved again and settled in Kingston, Ontario where she has been since, raising her twin boys. With her love of the hospitality industry, she had the great pleasure working 10 years at the RiverMill, and 6 years at Aqua Terra, always watching and learning under some very talented Chef’s.

Janet is a very passionate and caring person and loves to be a part of the Kingston community, helping in any way she can. Another passion Janet has is the sport of Curling. She started curling in High School in 1985 and in College placed 3rd in College Nationals. After moving to Kingston she joined Cataraqui Golf & Curling Club and then joined Royal Kingston Curling Club. While being a member, Janet took on the role of Junior Convenour at RKCC for a few years, developing and running the Junior curling program for youth. In December 2019, Janet started a company called Skippers Takeout and Catering that ended up running out of RKCC’s kitchen supplying delicious food to the members until COVID-19 shut everything down. This made her determined to help small food businesses in the area somehow. This led to her newest adventure Pizza in a Box
